Jassi's Costume Design Journey in Son of Sardaar 2
Explore how we crafted the transition from village roots to army-suave through color, tailoring, and character-driven details.
Color is a powerful tool in menswear. For this look, we paired an 'Ash Rose' Pantone turban with a 'Vanilla Ice' jacket. This unconventional combination for menswear was intentional, creating a soft yet confident style for Jassi's character.
Another example of our deliberate color strategy for Jassi. We combined a 'Wineberry' turban with a 'Windy Blue' jacket, creating a rich, visually striking palette. These pairings were designed to be unique and elevate the character's on-screen presence.

About Character Design: Jassi in 'Son of Sardaar 2'
Building Jassi’s look wasn't just about picking sharp outfits. It was about visual storytelling through fabric. We used a precise, military-inspired color palette—think muted greens, roasted cashews, and deep petrol blues—to hint at his secret identity as an undercover Army officer. Every silhouette was intentionally tailored to mark his evolution, helping the audience track his growth from a local village guy to a poised, operational professional without a single word of dialogue.
When designing for a character like Jassi, the script is our primary blueprint. The goal was to bridge the gap between 'desi' authenticity and high-stakes military sophistication.
The Art of Tailoring & Palette
Tailoring is having a major moment, and we leaned into that heavily. For the Scotland sequences, we moved away from standard film costumes toward a more structured approach. We played with classic 90s-inspired layering, using tonal shirt-and-tie combinations that gave Ajay Devgn’s character a grounded yet commanding presence.
Technical Precision
Every color choice was deliberate. By utilizing specific Pantone-aligned shades, we ensured that Jassi’s wardrobe contrasted effectively against the varied landscapes of Scotland. We sourced textiles that could handle movement, as the character needed to be dance-ready and action-ready while maintaining a sharp, clean silhouette.
The Collaborative Process
Design is never a solo act. The look you see on screen is the result of continuous coordination between cinematography, lighting, and our styling team. We had to test fabrics against specific camera lighting to ensure the military hues didn't wash out or clash. From the initial moodboards to the final on-set fittings, the entire process was about maintaining character continuity while keeping the energy of the film alive through the clothing.
