About Celebrating Our Culture
When we celebrate Janmashtami or Kannada Rajyotsava, we aren't just dressing up. We are creating moments where children learn about heritage in a way that actually sticks. You will see our students painting lotus flowers or practicing simple Kannada greetings, picking up a genuine respect for our local roots while they play.
For us, learning happens best when it feels like a celebration. We believe that preschool is the perfect time to introduce children to the rhythm of our festivals. Whether it is making clay diyas for Diwali, wearing traditional attire for Onam, or learning about freedom fighters on Independence Day, we use these events as teaching opportunities.
Why Culture Matters in Our Curriculum
Instead of lecturing, we use storytelling and art. Our goal is to make children feel comfortable with their surroundings and their heritage. When we celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava, children learn simple phrases, helping them get used to the language in a low-pressure environment. It is all part of our approach to building confidence and social awareness from a young age.
Hands-On Learning Through Festivals
Each festival brings a new project. Our 'Little Asters' might create paper crafts for Christmas or learn about the harvest during Makar Sankranti. These activities help with fine motor skills and creativity, all while keeping the environment fun and non-academic. By the time they leave us, they have a library of memories and a basic understanding of our shared traditions, all learned through laughter, costumes, and music.
