Celebrating Indian Festivals & Traditions
We believe children learn best when they feel connected to their heritage. Our classrooms become spaces for festive joy, where traditions are not just taught but experienced hands-on.

About Celebrating Our Roots
We do not just talk about festivals; we bring them to life. Whether it is arranging Gombe Habba dolls for Dussehra or churning fresh buttermilk during Janmashtami, our children learn by doing. These hands-on moments build a deep sense of cultural connection and community, helping every child feel they belong to something bigger than a classroom.
At Evolve Montessori, we believe that understanding one's roots is as essential to development as learning to read or write. Our classrooms in Chamrajpet and Gavipuram are designed to be spaces where Indian culture is an experience, not a lecture. We follow the Montessori principle of letting children lead, which means our celebrations are always age-appropriate and interactive.
How We Celebrate
Our approach is grounded in tactile learning. When we mark a festival, we focus on the activities that build motor skills and curiosity:
- Janmashtami: Rather than lecturing on stories, children experience them. We bring the tradition to life through activities like traditional buttermilk churning, allowing kids to engage with the narrative physically.
- Gombe Habba & Dussehra: Our annual Golu and doll arrangements are a collaborative effort. Children learn about artistic history, patience, and teamwork while setting up these displays, rather than just observing them.
- Diwali: We focus on the sensory and creative aspects, such as diya painting, which encourages focus and fine motor skill development in a festive, cheerful environment.
Why Cultural Immersion Matters
These celebrations are integrated into our daily rhythm, not treated as interruptions to learning. This fosters a sense of security and familiarity. By linking education to local traditions, we help children develop social skills, respect for diversity, and a strong sense of identity. We provide a space where a child's natural curiosity is nurtured alongside their cultural values, ensuring they grow up with a grounded, happy perspective on the world around them.
