About this collection
Shooting for a 50-foot billboard requires more than just high resolution. You need to account for how images behave when scaled and printed, particularly regarding color shifting from RGB digital screens to CMYK print. When I shoot these campaigns, I use Medium Format digital backs to ensure that skin texture and product gloss remain crisp at city-scale. This ensures the output is not just a photograph, but a technical asset ready for large-format media without losing quality.
Advertising for outdoor media demands a different technical workflow than standard social media assets. My process begins with a technical recce and mood board finalization to ensure the lighting reference aligns perfectly with the intended billboard placement.
The Technical Process
- Capture: I utilize Phase One medium format systems to capture data that meets the 100MP+ requirement for billboard printing. This equipment captures detail that survives extreme enlargement.
- Lighting: We use complex, multi-light studio setups, often employing large octaboxes or beauty dishes to sculpt the model's features while maintaining soft, natural light.
- Post-Production: This is not just about color grading. It is about pixel-level cleaning, liquefying for perfect composition, and adjusting color profiles to match Pantone shades precisely. I work with a dedicated digital technician on set to ensure every file is checked for focus and ready for agency use before we wrap.
Whether the goal is a sleek beauty campaign for a brand like Lakmé or a detailed texture-focused product ad, the objective remains the same. The visuals must grab attention from a distance, maintain integrity under direct sunlight or street lighting, and represent the product exactly as it appears in reality.

I am a commercial artist, and I treat every brief as a technical challenge. When a brand hires me, they get a partner who understands the nuance of beauty textures and the rigid requirements of large-scale print advertising.
