Our Navaratri Bharatanatyam Series
Every year, my students and I dedicate these nine days to honoring the nine forms of Goddess Durga. This series captures their interpretation of these divine forms through the language of Bharatanatyam, blending tradition with their own growing grace.

About Our Navaratri Series
This collection is a glimpse into how my students translate the complex symbolism of Navaratri into movement. When you watch these pieces, look closely at the Araimandi (half-sit) posture and the hand gestures—these are the result of the consistent, disciplined training we practice in the studio. It is a joy to see my students, whether beginners or those closer to their Arangetram, embody the strength of Durga with such sincerity.
During the Navaratri season, the atmosphere in our Ramagondanahalli studio changes. We shift our focus from technical Adavu drills to the emotive storytelling of the nine divine forms. For my students, this is a bridge between the physical rigor of the Kalakshetra style and the deeper spiritual intent of the art form.
I guide them through the specific mudras and expressions that distinguish each form—from the courage of Katyayani to the wisdom of Siddhidatri. We use these mini-projects to build the stage presence that is crucial for future performances, like the Salangai Pooja or the Arangetram.
If you have been looking to enroll yourself or your child, this series is the best way to understand the training philosophy at Samarpana Dance Academy. We do not just teach steps; we create a space where you learn to tell stories with your body. Whether you are a working professional looking for weekend conditioning or a parent seeking a disciplined, classical foundation for your child, I invite you to reach out. Let us discuss your goals—we can start with a conversation about your current level and expectations.

I founded Samarpana Dance Academy to pass on the discipline and beauty of Bharatanatyam, just as my gurus taught me. I work closely with every student to ensure they find their own rhythm, whether they are five years old or fifty.
