About this collection
In my intensive workshops, we move beyond simple steps to explore the logic behind the movement. You will leave with a clear roadmap for your individual practice, including high-quality audio recordings for your personal use, ensuring you can refine your technique long after the sessions conclude.
For intermediate and advanced students, dance is a continuous dialogue with the body. Whether I am conducting a session in Bengaluru or on an international tour, my aim remains the same: to decode the nritta (footwork) and abhinaya (expression) so you can find your own authentic voice.
What to Expect
We focus on specific compositions—such as Padams, Javalis, or Thillanas—breaking down the Sahitya (literary meaning) so every gesture has intent. These are not merely choreography classes; they are modules designed to sharpen your understanding of rhythm and musicality.
Support & Learning
I believe in practical learning. You will receive studio-recorded audio tracks for the pieces we cover and permission to record choreography breakdowns. This support is crucial for your Abhyasa (daily practice) at home, allowing you to absorb the finer details of the Margam (repertoire) at your own pace.
Who Should Attend
These sessions are crafted for dancers with at least 5 years of training or post-Arangetram experience. We keep group sizes limited to ensure I can provide individual feedback on posture, alignment, and emotional clarity. If you are preparing for a performance or simply looking to break through a plateau in your training, these workshops provide the focused environment you need.
Praveen Kumar
I am Praveen Kumar, and for me, Bharatanatyam is a conversation. I believe in discipline, but also in the joy of discovery, and I love creating spaces where we can push our boundaries together, whether in a studio in Basavanagudi or on a stage abroad.
