A beautiful formation from our "Tyagaraja Hrt Sadhana" performance. The precision in the dancers' postures and alignment is a key element of our ensemble's training and aesthetic.

About this collection

Working as an ensemble is distinct from solo performance. It requires a specific kind of synchronicity where every dancer acts as an extension of the other. When you watch our productions, you are seeing years of shared training where we move, breathe, and pause as one, turning complex rhythmic patterns into a unified visual experience.

Bharatanatyam is often seen as a soloist's medium, but the ensemble work at Chithkala explores the power of collective movement. My choreography for the ensemble focuses on geometry, spacing, and the dialogue between dancers. The way two performers interact on stage creates a layer of meaning that a single dancer cannot always convey alone.

We have developed signature productions like Tyagaraja Hrt Sadhana, which dives into devotion through rhythm, and Ṛtú Vismruti, which explores the issue of climate change through the lens of classical poetry. These pieces demand more than just technical precision. They require the ensemble to be in a constant state of awareness, where the rhythm of the footwork is matched perfectly across every dancer.

If you are organizing a dance festival, a corporate cultural event, or seeking a professional group performance for a special occasion, my ensemble offers a repertoire that balances technical rigor with thematic depth. We perform with live musical accompaniment, ensuring the experience is authentic and immersive for the rasikas.

I have always believed that art is a journey best shared. The Chithkala Ensemble is an extension of my classroom, where my senior students and I push the boundaries of Bharatanatyam, transforming personal expression into a collective voice.
