The Artist's Process: Crafting Sculptures from Found Materials

About The Artist's Process: A Meditative Journey
Every sculpture here is born from a process that is intentionally slow. Before a single piece is assembled, my team and I spend weeks cleaning and sorting materials like discarded cigarette filters or marble chips, transforming street waste into something pure. It is not mass production, but a meditative practice where we give these forgotten objects a second life by hand, one stitch at a time.
My studio in Jaipur is a quiet, sometimes frustrating place, but that is where the real work happens. When you look at these installations, you are seeing years of labor, not just a final product. I work primarily with what others overlook—marble blast stones from statue carving or thousands of cigarette butts—treating them as traces of breath that deserve a story.
The structural backbone of my work usually involves hidden cane or mild steel frames, providing the strength required for monumental installations that can reach up to 20 feet. For those interested in commissioning a site-specific piece, the journey begins with a site visit to map your architectural light and volume. Whether it is a wall-mounted cellulose sculpture or a free-standing marble floor piece, the goal is to create a living document that reacts to your space. My process is a testament to the belief that beauty lies in origins, and that even the most discarded material can be elevated through patience and craft.

I was raised in the stone dust of Jaipur, surrounded by a family of traditional sculptors. I carry that heritage forward, though I now tell stories through discarded materials rather than just stone. I invite you to see the potential in what we often throw away.
