We trade shiny, store-bought toys for recycled treasures to spark real imagination. Discover how our children learn through sustainable, hands-on creation at Papagoya.

Welcome to the Playmaker's Lab, our end-of-year tradition. We pack away the toys and replace them with recycled treasures like cardboard, bottle caps, and fabric, inviting children to reimagine waste and create with purpose.

In our Playmaker's Lab, a dollhouse is stocked not with furniture, but with CDs, toilet paper rolls, and fabric scraps. This challenges children to see and create possibilities in the most unexpected materials.

A shelf that once held toys is now filled with egg cartons and cardboard boxes. This setup is an open invitation for children to build, design, and invent, proving that creativity doesn't require new or shiny things.

A collection of plastic bottles, cartons, and other household recyclables becomes a treasure trove of building materials. This practice fosters sustainability and resourcefulness from a young age.

Our Playmakers are creators too. This video showcases some of their amazing projects, like a cardboard time machine and a refurbished playhouse, all made from natural and recycled materials to inspire play.

Our Playmakers often become toymakers, crafting resources from recycled materials. Here, a Playmaker sits inside a "Paw Patrol" car she built from cardboard, ready for the children's imaginative adventures.

A child wears a spectacular dinosaur headgear crafted by a Playmaker from cardboard. These handmade toys are designed with the children's interests at heart, making playtime extra special.

Forget store-bought toys. Our Playmakers created these detailed laptops and phones from cardboard, allowing children to engage in pretend "office" play using sustainable, handmade props.

A child wears a colorful felt mask, lovingly stitched by a Playmaker. These handmade resources add a personal, tactile element to the children's role-playing and storytelling.

Another adorable handmade felt mask, transforming a child into a character from their favorite show. These projects show the care and creativity our Playmakers pour into their work.

About Creative & Sustainable Play

Every year, we transform our classrooms by packing away standard plastic toys and replacing them with recycled cardboard, bottle caps, and fabric scraps. This isn't just about saving materials; it is a deliberate choice to help children see possibilities in the ordinary. When a child reaches for a plain cardboard tube instead of a factory-made toy, they aren't just playing; they are engineering their own universe and building creative confidence.
