About Creative Arts & Making: From Clay to Canvas
In our Atelier and Makery, children move beyond theory to tangible creation. Whether it is weaving, pottery, or crafting with recycled electronics, every project teaches them to observe, prototype, and build, turning their imagination into physical reality.
At Ekya Nava, we believe that education is an active process. We designed our dedicated Makery and Atelier labs so that children interact with materials in the same way an innovator or artist would. This approach is central to our Purpose-Based Learning philosophy.
Building Critical Skills Through Hands-on Projects
Our workshops are not just about making art, but about understanding the logic behind it. For younger children in our Little Explorers program, activities like clay modeling and puppet making are essential for fine motor skill development and sensory exploration. As they grow, we introduce complex tasks like hand-weaving, textile design, and large-scale sculpture building. These projects require patience, precision, and sustained focus.
Sustainability and Innovation
We encourage students to see the potential in everyday materials. By using newspaper, wire, and recycled electronic components, students learn to construct sculptures that serve as a commentary on the world around them. This teaches children that true innovation often comes from being resourceful. They are not just creating objects, they are solving structural problems and making design decisions that require empathy and intent.
Why Our Approach Works
When children see their ideas transformed into finished products—a 3D printed tool, a woven textile, or a collaborative sculpture—it builds a specific kind of confidence. They learn that they are capable of mastering new tools and techniques. This environment is intentionally structured to be collaborative. Students work alongside instructors to iterate on their designs, turning 'mistakes' into essential steps in the creative process. Whether your child is 3 or 10, these labs are where they develop the curiosity and resilience they will carry into their future studies.
Ekya Nava
We are Ekya Nava, and we believe school should be a space for building, failing, and trying again. We have designed our labs so children do not just consume information; they create with it, using their own two hands to bring ideas to life.
