Traditional Okinawan Karate and Kobudo Training
Our training follows the authentic Shorin-ryu lineage, where discipline and consistent practice build lasting strength, confidence, and character for students of all ages.
This is the heart of our dojo: students of all ages training together, united in their pursuit of excellence. Here, our young karateka practice their fundamental stances and techniques in a group session, building a strong foundation in traditional Shorin-ryu karate.
The authenticity of our teaching comes directly from Okinawa, the birthplace of karate. It was a moment of great honor to receive my Kyoshi Nanadan (7th Dan) rank from my teacher, Hanshi Minoru Nakazato, at the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan Honbu Dojo in Japan. This connection ensures that every student here learns the true art.
Kobudo, the art of Okinawan weapons, is an integral part of our curriculum. This is me demonstrating a stance with a traditional Eku (oar), a practice that develops strength, coordination, and a deeper understanding of martial principles beyond empty-hand techniques.
Tameshiwari, the art of breaking, is a powerful test of technique and spirit. It is not about brute force, but focus. Watching our students, like this young girl, confidently break a board is a testament to the confidence and mental strength they build through their karate journey.
Our dojo is a community. This is our first batch of Kobudo students after their KYU grading examination at the Honbu Dojo. It is wonderful to see their dedication and enthusiasm for learning the traditional weapon arts of Okinawa.
For over 33 years, I have dedicated my life to teaching traditional Okinawan Karate-do. What started with just 14 students has grown into a federation that I am deeply proud of. This journey is a testament to the timeless values of discipline, respect, and perseverance.
Discipline is built through consistent effort. This video shows our senior students engaged in a typical weekend training session, from foundational conditioning like pushups to the precise execution of kata and partner drills. Every movement is a step towards mastery.
Respect is the cornerstone of our dojo. Here, students are in seiza, the formal kneeling posture, and perform a collective bow. This simple act reinforces the humility, gratitude, and discipline that are central to the martial arts path.
About Featured
Our training philosophy is grounded in direct lineage from the Honbu Dojo in Okinawa. With a consistent 15:1 student-to-instructor ratio, I focus on correcting form and instilling the mental discipline of kata, ensuring that every movement from basic kihon to advanced sparring carries the authenticity of traditional martial arts.
A Foundation Built on Lineage
True karate is not merely about physical fitness or sport. It is a path of self-reliance. My training is rooted in the Shorin-ryu Shorinkan style, directly influenced by the teachings I received in Okinawa, Japan. When you join our dojo, you are not just learning a series of kicks and punches. You are participating in a tradition that spans generations, preserved by masters who emphasize 'Ganbatte' or the spirit of keeping going.
What You Will Experience
Classes are structured to accommodate both beginners and those with experience. Whether you are focusing on the fundamental stances of kihon, the complex forms of kata, or the practical application of kumite, the environment remains disciplined and focused. We also offer specialized training in Kobudo, where you will learn the coordination and control required for traditional weapons like the Bo, Tonfa, and Nunchaku.
The Dojo Environment
Our facility in Bengaluru is designed for serious practitioners. We maintain a space where respect is non-negotiable. From the formal kneeling posture of seiza to the collective bow, every ritual reinforces humility and gratitude. This is a community where students of all ages, from children to adults, train alongside one another. If you are looking to build mental fortitude alongside physical capability, I invite you to begin your journey with us.
