Authentic Okinawan Karate Training in Jayanagar
This is our core training ground. We focus on traditional Shorin-Ryu Seibukan techniques, lineage-backed principles, and character development, far removed from modern sport karate.
The makiwara, or striking post, is a traditional tool for developing power and technique. Here, I provide direct, hands-on correction to a student, focusing on hip rotation and elbow alignment. This attention to fundamental detail is the foundation of our training.
Kata is the soul of karate. It is a moving meditation and a library of techniques passed down through generations. I practice here on the beach, demonstrating that the discipline of karate is a part of you, wherever you are.
This is our Seibukan demonstration group on Karate Day in Okinawa. Training with us connects you to a dedicated international community, united by a shared respect for this martial art and its origins.
I share the philosophy of my teacher, Grand Master Zenpo Shimabukuro. We focus on kata as the most important element of karate. This is not a game; it is a serious path of self-development.
I am immensely proud to stand with my students after a successful grading. This moment represents their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to the path of Shorin-Ryu Seibukan karate.
This is a glimpse into a partner training session, or kumite, at a seminar. We practice applying our techniques with control and focus, learning to react and move with a partner in a disciplined environment.
It is a great honor to train under Grand Master Zenpo Shimabukuro in Okinawa. My teaching in Bangalore is a direct transmission of the knowledge I have received from him at the Seibukan headquarters.
About Featured
I don't teach for trophies or medals. My training blends the traditional Okinawan Shorin-Ryu system—learned directly from Grand Master Zenpo Shimabukuro—with my experience as a physiotherapist. When we work on stance stability or Makiwara strikes, I ensure your body alignment is correct to prevent injury and maximize power, because true martial arts is about long-term development.
Our Approach to Traditional Karate
At my dojo in Jayanagar, we follow the authentic Shorin-Ryu Seibukan Karate-Do curriculum. This is not a place for 'sport karate' or chasing points in a game. We view karate as a tool for self-improvement, following the strict Dojo Kun principles: respect, truth, and genuine effort.
Why Technique Matters
As my teacher taught me, the basic of karate is kata. It serves as an encyclopedia of fighting principles. We drill these fundamentals obsessively—correcting the rotation of your hip, the angle of your punch, and the placement of your feet. Because I am a physiotherapist, my instruction is not just about the move; it is about the biomechanics behind the move. You will learn how to generate force safely, ensuring your joints are protected as you build strength.
Training Structure
- Small Batches: I limit every class to 10–15 students. This ensures I can provide the hands-on correction you need to actually learn the art, rather than just copying movements.
- Traditional Tools: We use the makiwara (striking post) to condition your body and build the specific power required for Okinawan karate.
- Progression: Belts are not handed out. You earn your Kyu grade through demonstrated skill and understanding, with certificates recognized by our headquarters in Okinawa.
Whether you are an adult looking for discipline or a parent introducing your child to the martial arts, you will find a serious community here that values hard work over shortcuts.
