Hand-Sculpted Ceramic Art & Custom Figurines
We don't just shape clay; we bring stories and characters to life. Whether it is a detailed tribal figure or a whimsical animal, every piece is hand-built in our studio to hold its own unique personality.
This clay sculpture was inspired by a powerful photograph I saw of a Lambadi tribal girl. I wanted to capture her unique style and confident attitude in the clay. Creating figurative sculptures like this allows me to tell a story and infuse the piece with emotion and character.
This video shows the process of sculpting a ceramic sheep, from a simple lump of clay to a detailed, textured figure. Each curl of wool was individually shaped and applied, a process that requires hours of patience. This is the kind of detailed sculptural work I love to create for custom commissions.
About Ceramic Sculptures
Because we build these by hand rather than using molds, every 8 to 18-inch piece requires days of labor. We focus on hollow, coil, and slab construction to ensure the final form is lightweight yet durable, finished with matte or satin glazes to bring out the depth in facial expressions or textures like wool and hair.
We start every sculpture with a concept, often drawing inspiration from everyday moments—like a photograph of a tribal girl or the texture of wool on a sheep—to build something that feels alive. We do not use presses or molds. Instead, we use coil and slab techniques, working with high-fire stoneware clay to build hollow, lightweight forms that are sturdy enough for any shelf.
Once the shape is set, we spend hours on the detailing, using sgraffito to carve patterns or layering clay to create realistic textures. After the initial build, every piece goes through a double firing process reaching 1200°C to ensure the color and finish are permanent. Whether you want a statement art piece or a custom figurine for your home, we provide a digital mockup before we ever touch the clay. Each piece is signed by us and finished with felt pads on the base to protect your furniture.
