This is my dot art technique, where I use a single black pen to create a portrait with thousands of dots. It's a highly detailed and time-intensive style, shown here with a portrait of Robert Downey Jr.

About Intricate Pen & Sketch Portraits

For my dot art portraits, I use a stippling technique with archival-quality pigment ink. It is a slow, meditative process where I build the entire image using thousands of individual dots on heavyweight Bristol paper, creating a high-contrast piece that really stands out from standard sketches.

A classic black and white couple portrait for a client from my hometown, Banswara. I focused on the intricate patterns of their traditional wear using Brustro fine art graphic pencils.22
This A3 size graphite pencil sketch was a commission for a couple from TamilNadu. I paid special attention to the fine details in the saree and the joyful expressions.
A happy couple from Kerala, captured in a timeless black and white pencil sketch. The A3 size gives enough space to bring out the realistic textures and emotions.
This A4 size couple sketch for a client in West Bengal shows how even a smaller portrait can hold so much detail and love. I used my favorite Brustro graphic pencils for this.

The final portrait of an old man, created with soft pastels and pastel pencils on paper. This was my first major portrait project, and I'm proud of the realistic details in the skin texture, beard, and turban.11
A self-portrait created using the stippling technique. Every shadow and contour is made up of thousands of tiny ink dots, which requires immense patience but creates a unique, textured effect.
An expressive portrait created using a simple ballpoint pen and a scribbling technique. This method is spontaneous and energetic, building up tone and form through layered, chaotic lines.
Here I am adding the final touches to my first soft pastel portrait. This piece was a huge learning experience, teaching me how to blend colors to create depth and realism.
