A dedicated sanctuary for reflection deserves the same design rigor as your living area. We balance quiet reverence with contemporary aesthetics to create prayer spaces that truly breathe.

I designed this prayer room as a modern sacred space for quiet devotion. It features intricate jaali panels, symbolic Khanda motifs, and soft, layered lighting to create an atmosphere of spiritual tranquility and reverence.

A close-up of the custom-designed circular canopy with fringe details and the Khanda symbol, which serves as the room's spiritual and aesthetic centerpiece.

This view highlights the ornate, laser-cut jaali wall with the 'Ek Onkar' symbol, which adds a layer of traditional craftsmanship to the modern design.

A modern pooja space designed with a clean, open structure. The central altar is framed by wood and set against a backdrop that opens to the outdoors, blending spirituality with nature.

This side view shows how the pooja area is integrated into the home's layout, with a small fireplace visible through a window, adding to the warm and serene ambiance.

About Modern Sacred Spaces

A prayer space needs to balance deep reverence with the visual flow of your home. We use elements like laser-cut jaali screens or integrated wood paneling to define this zone, ensuring it feels distinct without breaking the continuity of your living area.

Design is not just about furniture placement. For sacred spaces, we focus on material weight, lighting intensity, and the specific symbolism you want to honor.

When designing in modern homes, the challenge is often size. A dedicated mandir room may not be possible, so we focus on zone marking. We use marble floors to anchor the space and soft, hidden lighting to highlight the altar without creating glare.

Materials play a pivotal role. We prefer natural textures like wood, stone, and brass because they age beautifully and carry a sense of grounding. If you prefer a contemporary look, we integrate clean lines and glass, using jaali patterns to allow air and light to circulate while maintaining a sense of privacy for your daily practice.

Whether you are working with a large room or a corner in your living area, our approach remains the same: identify the focus, manage the light, and keep the palette calm. We coordinate everything from the structural modifications to the final lighting install, ensuring the space is ready for use the moment we hand over the keys.
