About Tuesdays with the Bard: Our Record-Holding Poetry Night
Every Tuesday, we host India's longest-running weekly poetry night right here at our cafe near Ulsoor Lake. We maintain a strict 'listening-room' atmosphere, meaning the space stays silent during recitals so every voice, no matter how quiet, is heard. Your entry fee is fully redeemable on our food and drink menu, making it easy to grab dinner or a coffee while you listen.
The Story of Tuesdays with the Bard
We started this journey 15 years ago with a simple idea: to give words a stage. It grew from a small gathering into India's longest-running weekly poetry event, even earning a place in the Limca Book of Records. We built this because we believe that some cities are seen, but Bangalore is felt. Our Tuesday nights are where you feel it.
How It Works
Our evenings follow a rhythm that hasn't changed much in a decade and a half. We start with a featured poet—someone we've invited to anchor the night—and then open the floor. We don't care if you've been published or if it's your first time holding a microphone. If you have a verse to share, the mic is yours.
Practical Details
- Vibe: We keep it intimate and dimly lit, with fairy lights and a focus on the speaker. This isn't background noise; it is a space for active listening.
- Entry: There is a cover charge, but we don't believe in entry fees that go nowhere. The entire amount is 100% redeemable on our cafe menu. You can use it for your coffee, appetizers, or a full dinner while you enjoy the performances.
- Community: Beyond the poetry, this is a hub for meeting fellow readers, writers, and thinkers. Whether you are coming alone or with friends, you will find a seat and a conversation waiting for you.
