Inside Our Design Studio: An Architectural Process Showcase
Experience the workspace where MTA Architects bring concepts to life. Our studio functions as a living prototype of our design philosophy, blending industrial aesthetics with biophilic elements to foster collaboration and precision.
An elevation drawing of our studio, illustrating the integration of a green wall and the seamless transition between levels. This is a foundational step in our process, where we map out the spatial experience.
An isometric 3D model of our office, showing the multi-level layout with different zones for workstations, meetings, and informal discussions. We use these models to refine the flow and functionality of a space.
A view through the central void in our office, looking from one level to another. This open, double-height space promotes visual connectivity and a sense of community among our team.
Sunlight streams into our upper-level workspace through large windows. We prioritized natural light in our own studio design to create a bright and healthy environment for our architects.
This wide shot showcases the multi-level, open-plan design of our studio. The mezzanine level creates distinct work zones while maintaining the open and collaborative atmosphere of the industrial-style space.
The heart of our studio, featuring a library, workstations, and a large green wall. This image captures the essence of our design approach: creating spaces that are functional, inspiring, and connected to nature.

About this collection
Our studio is designed as a functional pilot project, testing the impact of biophilic elements and industrial aesthetics on daily team productivity. We utilized a double-height central void and extensive vertical greenery not just for visual appeal, but to regulate internal air quality and daylight penetration, ensuring our team remains connected to nature while managing high-density design workloads.
Architecture is as much about the process as it is about the final structure. In our studio, we practice the same rigor we apply to commercial and institutional projects across Chennai and Bangalore. By maintaining an open-plan layout, we facilitate constant communication between our senior architects and design teams, which is essential for complex tasks like MEP integration and GFC documentation.
The industrial aesthetic—marked by exposed ceilings and steel staircases—is a deliberate design choice. It allows for modularity and easy infrastructure upgrades, such as reconfiguring data cabling or adjusting HVAC output. This flexibility is a core component of the office fitouts we deliver for our corporate clients.
Key elements of our studio design include:
- Natural Lighting & Passive Ventilation: The strategic placement of large windows reduces the reliance on artificial lighting during daylight hours.
- Vertical Greenery: The central green wall serves a dual purpose as a natural acoustic buffer and an air filtration system.
- Dedicated Research Library: By placing our library in an informal meeting area, we encourage continuous learning and quick reference to material specs during the conceptual phase.
We document this entire process from initial 3D isometric views to construction site supervision. If you are looking to understand how an architectural firm translates a client requirement into a functional, sustainable workspace, our studio is the best place to start that conversation.
MTA Architects
We are MTA Architects, a team driven by the challenge of balancing heritage with modern requirements. We believe that good architecture is measured by the quality of life it provides, which is why we built our own workspace to be as efficient as the ones we deliver for our clients.
