About Performance Archive & Press

These posters and reviews are more than just a history; they show the scale of production I bring to the stage. Whether it is a traditional Margam at a sabha or a thematic production with a full live orchestra, I work with professional ensembles to ensure the sound and lighting match the artistic standard. If you are considering booking a recital, reviewing these past shows provides a clear look at my performance style, venue requirements, and the technical scope I can manage.

My performance journey is a constant dialogue between tradition and the stage. Each poster here marks a moment where I have shared my art with rasikas, from the intimate setting of Seva Sadan in Malleswaram to larger auditoriums like the NCPA in Mumbai and the India Habitat Centre in Delhi. Performing during the Margazhi season in Chennai remains a highlight, and these archives help document the technical variety I offer, including solo Margam recitals and collaborative duets.

Why Live Music Matters

If you look at the event announcements, you will notice I almost always list my co-artists. I believe a Bharatanatyam recital is incomplete without a live orchestra. The synergy between the Nattuvangam, Mridangam, and the vocalist dictates the pace of the performance. When booking a show, I always encourage organizers to consider the acoustics of the venue, as a live ensemble requires a specific sound check setup to ensure the Salangai (ankle bells) and musical instruments are balanced perfectly for the audience.

Production & Technical Scope

Beyond traditional solos, I also curate thematic productions. These require more coordination, including light scripts and parfois, digital art projections. By browsing these past programs, you can see how I adapt my repertoire for different spaces, whether it is a cultural outreach program for the Infosys Foundation or a private event. If you have a specific venue in mind, these examples serve as a reference for the type of space and technical support needed to host a high-quality classical dance production.

Namaskara! I am Dr. Ramya Suresh. Balancing life as a pathologist and a dancer means my practice is disciplined, yet fueled by a deep love for the Margam repertoire. I believe every performance is an opportunity to learn, whether I am presenting a traditional solo or a thematic production with my orchestra.
