Awards and Recognition for Contextual Architecture
A collection of professional honors that reflect our ongoing commitment to material integrity and context-sensitive design.
It was an honor for my practice to be included in the Architectural Digest AD100 Hall of Fame for 2023. This video montage from the publication celebrates the firms recognized for their significant contributions to architecture and design in India.
About Awards & Recognition
Awards validate the discipline of our process. When we accept recognition like the AD100 Hall of Fame, it is not for a single project, but for the years of rigorous investigation into material honesty. From the Dhajji Dewari timber-laced stone work in Kashmir to our exposed concrete geometries, these accolades signify that our focus on the logic of construction and environmental sensitivity resonates beyond the studio.
Architecture is not about accolades, but the pursuit of archetypal forms that mirror the life around us. While we are grateful to be listed in the AD100 Hall of Fame and named Architect of the Year at India Design 2024, our true measure of success remains the dialogue we establish with the land.
We view these honors as a reflection of our core practice: integrating material and the logic of construction. Whether we are reinterpreting traditional timber-laced stone construction for modern seismic resilience in Kashmir or sculpting boutique resorts in the Himalayas, our objective is to find symbols that suit the specific situation.
Awards serve as benchmarks for the intensity of our research. Our work demands we travel to sites, understanding the atmosphere of places like Fatehpur Sikri or Granada. It requires moving from initial sketches to digital modeling and physical prototypes before a single brick is laid.
When clients engage with us, they are not simply hiring an architect. They are entering into a collaborative process. We reject the urge to convert a generalized value into a proposal. Instead, we describe values in terms of symbols, transforming them into built reality. This rigor, applied from fine-dining interiors in Gurugram to sprawling resort master plans, is what the architectural community recognizes. It is a search, never settling, constantly refining our understanding of how raw concrete, steel, and timber can capture light and shadow to create spaces that feel alive.
