DUBEY Home: Minimalist Modern Residential Architecture
A design study on a 50’ x 60’ corner plot in peri-urban Bangalore, featuring logical zoning and seamless transitions between indoor living spaces and the surrounding landscape.
The front entrance of the DUBEY Home, designed to be pet-friendly and integrated with the neighborhood. The use of local slate stone on the facade and steps grounds the modern structure in its context.
The home as seen from the street corner, nestled among mature trees. The design uses a combination of white plaster and dark slate cladding to create a visually interesting and modern facade.
The entrance gate and veranda, showcasing the clean lines and functional design. The covered veranda provides a shaded transition space, protecting the interior from direct sun and rain.
The living room is arranged with simple, modern wooden furniture. Large windows ensure the space is filled with natural light, while indoor plants help to blur the boundary between inside and out.
A view from the dining area towards the living room and foyer. The open-plan layout creates a fluid, interconnected ground floor, while a storage unit doubles as a subtle visual divider.
A custom-designed storage cabinet in a soft green hue acts as a focal point and a functional divider in the open-plan living area. The open shelving provides space for decor, personalizing the home.
The master bedroom features large sliding glass doors that open directly onto a private sit-out and the garden. This seamless connection to the outdoors is a key feature of our residential designs.
This diptych shows the clever storage solutions within the bedroom. A sliding door reveals a walk-in wardrobe, while a mirrored panel on the corridor wardrobe enhances the sense of space and light.
The stark, minimalist form of the DUBEY Home's rear facade, set against a clear blue sky. This view emphasizes the building's simple geometric composition and clean, unadorned surfaces.
A close-up detail of the dark slate tile cladding used on the exterior. This durable and locally sourced Indian stone provides a rich texture that contrasts with the smooth white walls.
About DUBEY Home: Modern, Minimal, and Connected
We organized the layout by separating public and private functions into distinct rectangular volumes, linked by a central staircase. This plan partitions the home's social areas from the bedroom zones, ensuring acoustic and visual privacy while maintaining an open, fluid movement pattern throughout the ground floor.
The architectural brief for the Dubey Home focused on site-responsive design on a 50’ x 60’ corner plot. By separating the structure into two primary rectangular blocks, we effectively zoned the house. The south-facing volume contains public areas such as the living and dining rooms, while the northern block houses the private bedrooms. The staircase serves as the primary circulation spine between these two zones, creating a logical flow that optimizes the internal square footage.
Our material strategy was intentionally restrained. We used local slate stone on the facade to ground the structure within its landscape. Crisp white plaster finishes contrast with the dark stone, emphasizing the geometric clarity of the built form. Large sliding glass doors were strategically positioned to open the living areas into the landscape, framing the existing mature trees on the site.
Passive cooling techniques are embedded into the design. Overhanging roofs and veranda transitions protect interior spaces from direct solar gain, reducing reliance on mechanical climate control. This project demonstrates our commitment to creating living spaces that respond to their local context rather than imposing upon it.
