Minimalist Luxury Architecture in Nagarbhavi
We designed this 3000 sq ft home in Nagarbhavi to find the perfect balance between modern luxury and everyday simplicity. Through open floor plans and a triple-height central courtyard, we brought light and nature into the heart of this doctor couple's residence.
The elevation of Dr. Harsha's home reflects its minimal interior, with a monochromatic theme punctuated by a pop of red. The design features a prominent black stone-clad section and a triple-height courtyard screen.
We introduced a triple-height courtyard to infuse the entire home with natural light. The stairwell runs parallel to this courtyard, offering changing views of the vertical garden as one moves through the house.
The triple-height courtyard acts as a balcony garden attached to the living room, extending the space outdoors. The vertical garden and perforated red metal discs create a visual delight accessible from every floor.
The entrance to Dr. Harsha's home offers a glimpse of the minimalist luxury within. A custom carved wooden door opens to a foyer with clean lines, a sleek console table, and contrasting dark wood paneling.
The living room is designed as an open floor plan to maximize visual volume. A gorgeous powder blue sofa takes center stage, complemented by abstract art and a statement coffee table.
Another angle of the living room, highlighting the hero powder blue sofa and custom color-blocked cushions. The abstract painting adds depth, while the black and gold coffee table ties into the room's architectural details.
This view shows the full living area, with a textured TV wall panel providing a monotone backdrop. The layout seamlessly connects the living, dining, and kitchen spaces while allowing each to have its own distinct character.
Every corner contributes to the interior design. Here, bold gold paneling in the showcase unit adds glamour, while a comfortable lounge chair and marble side table create a cozy reading spot.

About Project Showcase: Dr. Harsha's Home
In a 30x40 foot plot, the biggest challenge is maintaining a sense of volume without sacrificing privacy. We solved this by removing all partitions between the living, dining, and kitchen areas. By using consistent white marble flooring throughout the ground level and contrasting it with the deep blue kitchen backsplash, we clearly defined each functional zone while keeping the entire floor feeling like one expansive, interconnected space.
Architecture of Light
Our design philosophy centers on the 'hero element'—in this project, it is the triple-height courtyard. We positioned this central void to act as the lungs of the house. It not only infuses every floor with natural light but also allows for a vertical garden that acts as a visual focal point from the stairwell. This courtyard turns a standard urban plot into a private sanctuary, ensuring the home feels detached from the density of its Nagarbhavi surroundings.
The Material Palette
We balanced the monochrome interior—dominated by white marble flooring and textured walls—with bold accents. The living room features a custom powder blue sofa, which serves as the anchor, while the dining area is defined by a monolithic black tile backdrop. This contrast is intentional; it highlights the architectural details rather than hiding them. Every piece, from the gold-accented showcase units to the custom-designed joinery in the kitchen, was curated to ensure the minimalism remained warm rather than cold.
Why We Design This Way
For us, residential architecture is about movement. By placing the stairwell parallel to the courtyard, the act of moving between floors becomes a changing experience of light and shadow. We also utilized specific technical elements like concealed HVAC ducting and magnetic track lighting to keep ceilings clean and uncluttered. This approach allows the quality of the materials—the stone, the wood, and the brick—to take center stage.
