Behind the Scenes of My Handmade Crochet Life
Building a business from a hobby isn't just about the finished pieces. It is about the midnight hustle, balancing mom life, and finding calm in every loop. Come see the real story of how I work.
Working so hard that my kids can flex, "Meri Mummy ka business hain." This is me, crocheting while watching a show, balancing mom life and my passion.
The reality of a small business owner. After making and packing the products, it's off to the post office to send these little bags of handmade dreams to their new homes.
People ask about my working hours. The truth is, as a small business owner, I work around the clock to fulfill orders and prepare for workshops. Your support means everything.
Finding inspiration everywhere. Here I am crocheting in the lawn section of IKEA Bangalore. A change of scenery is always great for creativity.
This is the ultimate multitasking challenge: mom life plus a crochet business. Juggling kids and crochet is my everyday reality, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
This is a thank you to my family, my biggest cheerleaders. Behind every small business is a support system that holds everything together.
As a small creator, I love connecting with others. Let's support each other's handmade businesses and grow our community together.
Where did the time go? I thought I'd crochet for just five minutes, and now hours have passed. This is what happens when you love what you do.
About Behind the Scenes
You often see the polished result of a finished flower bouquet or the fun energy of a workshop, but the reality is a mix of late-night packing, juggling kids, and finding creative pockets in Bangalore cafes. Every piece I send out comes from this home setup where I balance motherhood and my craft, ensuring every stitch is filled with the same intention I bring to my teaching.
Running a small crochet business is rarely a 9-to-5 job. It happens in the margins of the day. When I am not teaching in a premium cafe in Bangalore or setting up mats at Cubbon Park, I am usually at my desk, processing orders or preparing DIY kits to ship across India.
The Reality Behind the Stitches
- The Hustle: From sourcing yarn to the final packaging, everything is done by hand. When you see me packing orders, it is usually late at night after my kids are asleep. This is my quiet time to focus and ensure every knot is secure.
- Mom Life: Juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship is a constant balancing act. Some days, I am crocheting while watching a show with the kids; other days, the studio is a whirlwind. My kids are my biggest cheerleaders—hearing them proudly say 'Meri Mummy ka business hain' makes every skipped nap worth it.
- Finding Inspiration: I do not wait for the perfect environment. You will often find me crocheting at IKEA or a park, because inspiration hits when you stop overthinking.
Why I Share My Process
I believe in transparency. When you choose my work—whether it is a custom gift for your 'pasandida aurat' or a beginner workshop—you are supporting a real person. You are supporting a dream that started as a way to heal from anxiety and grew into a community.
If you are a fellow creator or a mom trying to build something of your own, reach out. We are all learning, and I am always happy to chat about the journey.
Love Crochet Very Much
I am Zaina. A few years ago, crochet was the anchor that kept me steady, and today, it is my full-time passion. I am just a mom who decided to turn a stress-relief hobby into a space where others can learn to stitch, create, and find a little calm too.
