Behind the Needles: How My Crochet Comes to Life
Come see the messy, wonderful process of how I turn simple yarn into the cozy, custom crochet pieces you love.
Here I am in my element, working on a new creation. I love the process of teaching and learning, and I had an amazing time at this workshop.
I love crocheting by the beach! The ocean is so inspiring. This is where I came up with the ideas for my "Maldivian" line of products, like the starfish and seashell charms.
This is my "Who Am I?" series display from the Sunday Soul Santhe. I created these little cards to explain what each quirky product is used for. It was so much fun!
We're opening a shop at the Sunday Soul Santhe! This video shows some of the cute and affordable things I was preparing for the market.
Hello winter! Come make these beautiful stars and snowflakes with me. This is just a little glimpse into how I start my festive creations.
Dive into the chaos of my workspace! This is a real look at my messy desk where all the magic happens. Here, I'm working on a pair of my "Desi" crochet earrings.
Ever wondered what "blocking" is? It's the secret to getting those perfect, crisp shapes in crochet. This video shows you how I block my snowflake ornaments to give them their beautiful form.
About this collection
My workspace is usually a pile of yarn scraps and half-finished projects, but that is exactly where the magic starts. Whether I am 'blocking' a delicate snowflake to make it crisp or figuring out how to turn a flat circle into a 3D keychain, I love showing you the raw process behind the final product. It is never perfect on the first try, but that is how we get the perfect stitch.
From Sketch to Stitch
Ever wondered how a tangle of yarn transforms into those polished, handmade treasures? The process is rarely linear. It involves lots of trial and error—what I call 'frog life'—where I sometimes have to unravel and restart to get the tension and shape just right.
The Art of Blocking One of the most important steps that happens off-camera is 'blocking.' This is how I ensure your ornaments, coasters, and festive decor hold their form. By pinning the crochet piece to a board and using a gentle water-based stiffener, I coax the fibers into their intended shape. It turns a soft, limp piece of yarn into a durable, structured item that lasts.
My Creative Space My desk in Bengaluru is often chaotic, covered in safety eyes, polyfill, and whatever current project has my attention. I find that this 'messy' energy is where the best ideas come from—like my 'Who Am I?' series, which was born from wanting to explain the utility of my smaller crochet items. Whether I am sitting by the beach finding inspiration for new charms or setting up shop at the Sunday Soul Santhe, I am always thinking about how these pieces will fit into your life.
Common Questions About My Process:
- How do you customize orders? If you have an idea, a photo, or even a vague concept, send it my way. I work with you to pick the colors and yarn type to make it real.
- Is it safe for kids? Absolutely. For my baby sets, I strictly use 100% soft cotton yarn, which is hypoallergenic and gentle on sensitive skin.
- What if I need it for a specific date? Just let me know early! Since everything is handmade by me, I appreciate a little heads-up so I can plan my stitching time.
