Creative Upcycling & Mixed Media Art Workshops
Discover the magic of turning everyday objects into art. From newspaper collages to foil sculptures, we make creativity accessible, fun, and beautifully simple.
Why have a plain bag when you can make it extraordinary? This video shows the process of hand-painting a beautiful floral design onto a simple handbag, turning it into a unique, personalized accessory.
A fun project combining two art forms: painting and origami! The kids created a beautiful sunset sea-scape and then learned to fold a simple two-step origami boat to sail on their painted waves.
This unique "under the sea" artwork was created using aluminum foil. I guided the students on how to shape and texturize the foil to create shimmering fish that look like they are swimming in the painted water.
A beautiful mixed-media canvas featuring abstract trees made from newspaper collage. This piece combines acrylic painting with upcycled materials to create a textured and nature-inspired work of art.
For Valentine's Day, we created these beautiful heart mosaics using colored newspaper. This project teaches kids about color, composition, and the joy of turning recycled materials into something lovely.
A step-by-step guide to creating a beautiful heart with string art on a paper plate. This is a great craft for developing fine motor skills and results in a colorful, textured piece of Valentine's decor.
Have you ever tried squeegee art? It's a super fun and satisfying way to create interesting characters and shapes by pulling paint across the paper. The final piece is a colorful group of characters promoting unity and harmony.
About Creative Upcycling & Mixed Media
My mixed media sessions are about seeing the potential in everyday items—turning foil into shimmering fish, newspapers into textured landscapes, or even old bags into personalized canvases. I guide you through step-by-step techniques to experiment with non-traditional materials, ensuring you leave with a finished piece that tells your own unique story, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced hobbyist.
Art does not require expensive supplies; it requires imagination. In my upcycling workshops, we look at the world differently. A piece of kitchen foil becomes an ocean scene, a plain paper plate transforms into a vibrant, stitched-yarn decoration, and a stack of old newspapers becomes the foundation for a mixed-media canvas.
Why Mixed Media?
For both kids and adults, working with mixed media is a fantastic way to develop fine motor skills and sensory awareness. It removes the pressure of needing to 'draw perfectly' and replaces it with the freedom to build, layer, and texture.
What We Cover
- Textured Collages: Using recycled paper to create depth and abstract shapes.
- Foil & Embossing: Manipulating metal surfaces to capture light and detail.
- Upcycled Crafting: Turning household items into functional art, like hand-painted bags or decorative wall hangings.
These sessions are designed for everyone—from children aged 6+ to adults looking for a creative escape. We keep our batches small (4 to 8 participants for kids' sessions) to ensure everyone gets the focused guidance they need to explore these unconventional materials safely and confidently.
