Family & Outdoor Portrait Photography in Shimla

While my studio is my home base, I love taking families into the open spaces of Shimla for a completely different look. Outdoor portrait photography relies on the shifting light and the environment to tell your story. I typically use the natural landscape to frame your family, focusing on candid moments rather than static, posed shots.

During our outdoor family sessions, my goal is to document your family as you actually are. If your kids want to run, climb, or explore, we let them. This movement creates authentic expressions that you just cannot manufacture in a studio setting. I often use a mix of wide shots to capture the scenery and tight, intimate portraits to focus on your family's bond.

Preparing for your outdoor session

• Comfort is priority: Choose outfits that you can move in comfortably. If your children are not comfortable, it shows in the photos.
• Timing: For outdoor work, we try to aim for late afternoon or early morning to get that soft, golden light. Mid-day harsh sun is usually avoided.
• Personal touches: If there is a specific park or outdoor spot that holds meaning for your family, I am happy to shoot there.

Whether it is a walk through the woods or a play session in a local park, these sessions are designed to be low-pressure. You get the high-resolution files just like you would in a studio session, with the added benefit of a beautiful, natural backdrop that feels unique to your family's memory.
