About Custom Vastra for Deities
Getting the fit right for a deity idol is trickier than it seems because standard sizes rarely work. I work based on your idol's specific height and width measurements, ensuring the dress, pajami, and pagdi sit perfectly without slipping or looking oversized.
When I stitch vastra, I approach it with the same care as my festive clothing line. I source vibrant brocades, rich velvets, and quality mirror trims that catch the light properly during puja or festive celebrations.
What Goes Into Your Deity's Outfit:
- Complete Sets: I don't just stitch a dress; I create the full look, including the matching pagdi (turban) and pajami, so the idol looks cohesive.
- Material Selection: I prioritize fabrics that drape well at a miniature scale. Heavy brocades are used for structure, while softer silk-blends are chosen for smaller idols to ensure the pleats fall naturally.
- Detailing: Mirror work, gota patti, and sequin trims are secured tightly. I know these pieces are handled frequently during daily rituals, so I reinforce the stitching around delicate borders to prevent fraying.
