About The Art of Detail: Hand Embroidery

The secret to durable embroidery lies in the foundation. For our Kundan and Zardosi work, we use high-grammage raw silk or bridal satin as the base, which provides the necessary strength to support heavy stone embellishments without sagging. Before we start, I recommend bringing in your fabric—or selecting from our stash—so we can test how it holds the stitching to ensure the final piece feels as light as it looks.

Bringing Your Vision to Life

Hand embroidery is more than just decoration; it is the soul of an outfit. At my studio in Seawoods, we prioritize the integrity of the garment just as much as the beauty of the design. My team of karigars specializes in traditional techniques including:

  • Kundan and Zardosi: Perfect for heavy bridal lehengas and festive blouses, using genuine stone-look embellishments and metallic gold threads.
  • Knot Work and Floral Motifs: Ideal for sarees and everyday ethnic wear, these delicate stitches add texture and depth.
  • Maggam Work: Heavy, structured embroidery used for statement necklines and sleeve hems.

The Shukrana Process

When you come to me with a design, we begin with a consultation to match the embroidery style with the occasion. A bridal lehenga requires a different approach to stitching than a light festive kurta. We ensure that all heavy pieces are double-lined and that the embroidery is 'under-packed' or stitched with concealed finishing so that threads do not irritate your skin.

We offer complete customization. If you have an heirloom saree that needs new life, I can preserve the original motifs while reworking the embroidery for a modern fit. Whether it is a blouse with statement tassels or a full set featuring custom floral threads, we handle every knot with care to ensure your outfit is a piece you will cherish for years.
