Lighting is the jewellery of architecture. I design systems that create the perfect mood, from the grandeur of a hotel lobby to the intimate warmth of a restaurant lounge.

This banquet hall at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Jaipur is designed for versatility. The lighting scheme uses elegant cove lighting within the coffered ceilings to provide soft, indirect ambient light, supplemented by large decorative fixtures that add a touch of formality and scale.

An all-day dining restaurant where the feature wall is the hero. I designed individual lights within each of the recessed wall niches to create a beautiful rhythm and texture, providing a warm, glowing backdrop for the entire dining space.

This terrace lounge lighting was designed to rule the darkness. I used minimalist linear fixtures to create geometric canopies of light overhead, defining the outdoor seating area while preserving the ambiance of the night sky. The result is a chic and dramatic open-air experience.

About Hospitality: Hotels & Restaurants

In hospitality, lighting must serve two masters: the operational need for clarity and the human need for atmosphere. I use Dialux simulations to map light levels before installation, ensuring your staff has the functional brightness to serve efficiently, while the guest experience remains anchored in the warmth and subtle drama that makes a venue feel premium.

Good hospitality lighting is not about flooding a room with brightness; it is about sculpture. When I design for hotels and restaurants, my process begins with the emotional intent of the space. Whether it is a grand banquet hall like the one at DoubleTree by Hilton, or an intimate terrace lounge, the goal is to define the boundaries of the environment without overpowering the architecture.

My approach focuses on:

Technical Precision Before a single fixture is installed, I conduct rigorous Lux level calculations. This ensures that dining tables have enough light for menus to be legible, while the periphery remains soft. For hotel lobbies, I calculate the 'light landing' to ensure transitions between daylight and interior artificial light are seamless.

Texture and Depth In restaurant design, flat lighting is the enemy. I employ techniques like wall grazing to reveal the texture of stone cladding or decorative panels, creating rhythm on the walls. This breaks the monotony and guides the eye through the space.

Human-Centric Comfort Hospitality environments require high Color Rendering Index (CRI >90) lighting. This is non-negotiable for food and beverage areas; it ensures ingredients look vibrant and furniture colors remain true. By layering ambient lighting with accent spots, I build a sense of visual luxury that guests feel instantly when they walk in.

My consultancy covers everything from the initial mood boarding to the final focusing visit, where I manually adjust every beam angle to ensure the light lands exactly where the architecture demands.
