Slow-made pottery to turn your daily tea ritual into a moment of calm. Each piece is shaped with care in my Bengaluru studio, balancing form and function.

My light blue teapot and cup set, arranged to show the beautiful, frosty glaze. This wheel-thrown set is perfect for a peaceful afternoon tea.

A pair of teapots with matching cups. I often make pieces in small batches, and it's lovely to see them together before they go to their new homes.

Holding one of the small tea cups from the set. They are designed without handles, in a traditional style, to be warmed by the tea and cupped in your hands.

Watch me make a complete teapot set on the wheel, from throwing the body and spout to trimming and assembling the final pieces.

A beautiful hand-built teapot with a carved vertical line texture and a deep blue glaze. This piece was made by a student and shows incredible attention to detail.

Another gorgeous teapot made by a student, featuring a rich blue drip glaze over a raw stoneware base. The form is classic and the finish is stunning.

This teapot, made by a student, has a lovely rustic charm with its speckled clay body and hand-painted leaf design.

This video shows a student in my hand-building course constructing a teapot from scratch. You can see the process of coiling the body and attaching the spout and handle.

It's so inspiring to watch my young students tackle complex projects. Here, an artist is hand-building and carving his own unique teapot.

About Artisanal Teapots & Tea Sets

Because I craft each piece from raw stoneware, the process takes about 3 to 4 weeks to ensure everything is fired and glazed correctly. If you have a specific date in mind—like an anniversary or a birthday gift—it helps to reach out early so I can manage the drying and kiln schedule without rushing the clay.

There is a specific joy in holding a teapot that fits your hand perfectly. When I design these sets, my focus is equally on the visual and the functional. I want the lid to sit securely, the spout to pour without dripping, and the handle to feel balanced, even when the pot is full of hot tea.

My Approach to Tea Ware

Every piece starts with high-fired stoneware, which is durable, microwave-safe, and excellent at retaining heat. I use a mix of wheel-throwing and hand-building techniques to get the right structure. For glazes, I draw from the world around us—colors like deep blue for monsoon skies or speckled earth tones that feel connected to the ground.

What Goes into a Set

  • Teapots: I design these with built-in clay strainers and locking lids so you can pour comfortably.
  • Cups: Whether you prefer a handle or a traditional cup that warms your hands, I can adjust the design.
  • Bundles: For dinnerware sets, I ensure the design language is consistent across the teapot and the matching cups, even while maintaining the organic variations that make handmade ceramics special.

Care & Customization

Since these are stoneware, they are built to last through daily use. When you order a custom set, we can talk about the glaze palette that matches your home or the specific capacity you need for your daily brew. Because I work in small batches, every set I send out has been through the entire journey—from wet clay to the final firing—in my Uttarahalli studio.

I’m the face behind Ihalo Pottery, where I turn raw clay into pieces meant for slow living. I find that the most honest work happens when you let the clay guide the shape, whether I’m throwing on the wheel or building by hand.
