Our Design Studio: A Blend of Traditional Indian and Modern Office Interiors
We designed our Jayanagar studio to reflect our philosophy: workspaces should be functional yet soulful. Here is a look at how we balance traditional materials with contemporary office needs.
The first look into our studio, framed by a brick-clad doorway. This view offers a glimpse of the red oxide wall and our brass logo, setting the tone for our design aesthetic right from the entrance.
Our reception area makes a strong first impression with a beautiful red oxide wall and our custom brass logo. The space is designed to be a welcoming foyer, complete with comfortable seating and a view of the lush tree canopy outside.
A short video highlighting the details in our foyer. Notice the traditional Kolam pattern in a brass inlay on the floor, a nod to our cultural roots, set against the modern backdrop of the oxide wall and large glass windows.
Our office balcony is a small but cherished space for relaxation. The floor features geometric Chettinad-style tiles, while a neon sign adds a modern, motivational touch, creating a perfect blend of styles.
My cabin was designed to feel private yet connected to the team, separated by a clear glass partition. The custom desk inside features a mix of vintage and contemporary legs, reflecting our firm's core design principles.
This video shows the details of the bespoke desk in my cabin. The fluted vintage teak wood leg with a brass accent is a key feature, showcasing our love for incorporating unique, traditional elements into modern furniture design.
The conference room is defined by a custom-painted wall mural in soothing, earthy pastels. We used clear glass sliding doors for separation and chose classic Chandigarh chairs to complement the simple rubber wood table.
A walkthrough of our conference room, showing how the space comes together. From the textured wall art to the material swatches on the table, this is where our creative concepts are presented and developed with clients.
Our main workstation area plays with a mix of warm and cool tones. We combined rubber wood and oak finishes with a concrete-finish base and flooring to create a balanced and productive environment for the design team.
A closer look at one of the workstations. The large pin-up board is essential for our creative process, allowing us to display mood boards, material samples, and sketches, keeping inspiration within arm's reach.
About House of Ruya: Our Design Studio
Stepping into our Jayanagar studio, you will walk over a traditional Kolam pattern cast in brass, set right into the red oxide floor. It is the first detail that greets our clients and a small reminder of how we ground modern, functional workspace design in the textures and stories of our Indian roots.
Our studio is more than an office; it is a live laboratory where we test the balance between raw, traditional materials and efficient, modern functionality.
Designing for Connection
We wanted a space that felt private enough for deep focus but open enough to keep the team connected. We achieved this using clear glass partitions that maintain visual continuity throughout the floor plan. In my cabin, you will find a desk that tells our story—a mix of contemporary clean lines on one side and a sourced vintage teak leg on the other, symbolizing our firm's principle of juxtaposing the old and the new.
Materiality and Process
Our material palette is chosen for its character and warmth. We used:
- Red Oxide & Brass: The foundation of our foyer, creating a grounding, earthy entrance.
- Exposed Brick & Concrete: These give the space a structural honesty, contrasting with the soft, hand-painted abstract murals in our conference room.
- Woodwork: Rubber wood and oak finishes bring warmth to our workstations, while biophilic elements—lots of plants and a view of the tree canopy—help keep the air and energy fresh.
Everything you see here, from the neon signs to the reflected ceiling plans, represents the same level of detail we bring to every corporate project we undertake. Whether we are planning an amphitheater for a town hall or a quiet focus niche, we aim to design spaces that encourage people to stay a little longer.
