Our Featured Interior Design Projects
A glimpse into our philosophy: homes that grow with you, blending heritage textures with quiet, modern comfort. Explore the stories we’ve helped narrate.
This living room is the heart of a rustic, medieval-inspired home. We brought in large, heavy stones to create a fireplace-like feature wall, balancing its weight with warm floral prints, hand-painted green cabinets, and a collection of the family's treasured Kalighat art.
In this master bedroom, we designed a custom four-poster bed to be the centerpiece. The headboard is a tapestry of silk and brocade, stretching to the ceiling to create a sense of quiet grandeur and heritage.
This kitchen is a whisper of South India, with its deep monsoon blues, terracotta-patterned tiles, and natural cane shutters. It’s a space designed with quiet strength, holding fast to what endures rather than chasing trends.
I believe every home needs a quiet corner for reflection. We created this cozy window seat and reading nook with custom-built shelving, turning an unused space into a personal haven for getting lost in a book.
This dining area is wrapped in the warmth of wood, from the fluted wall panels to the cane-woven chairs. We designed this space to feel like a cohesive, modern sanctuary, using different textures of wood to add depth and character.
A home should reflect the people who live in it. For a Merchant Navy officer, we designed this study with vintage sailor vibes, using blue and white striped wallpaper, a custom 9-foot desk, and bronze marine accessories.
The magic is in the transformation. This video shows how we take a bare, empty room and, through careful planning and execution, turn it into a fully realized, personal space, ready for the family to move in.
About this collection
A home isn't just about the final look; it’s about the structural decisions that make a space liveable. Whether we are reconfiguring layouts to open up a kitchen, installing floor-to-ceiling storage, or restoring an inherited antique, we handle the hands-on work on-site so you don’t have to. You will see that approach in these projects—a focus on natural stone, honest wood grains, and layouts that prioritize air and light over trends.
Our Design Philosophy
We don't believe in chasing fleeting trends. For us, design is about longevity and the feeling of stillness. When we take on a project, we look for ways to weave your personal history into the architecture. It might mean using Jaisalmer stone or terracotta to ground the space, or incorporating vintage Chettinad pillars to create a sense of history in a brand-new apartment.
The Process: From Chaos to Calm
Transformation is rarely as neat as a mood board. Our process is hands-on and transparent. We manage everything from demolition and electrical rewiring to the final placement of decor accessories.
- Materiality: We lean toward materials that age gracefully—teak, solid wood, cane, and natural stone.
- Customization: If you need a nine-foot desk for a study or a walk-in wardrobe tucked behind a folding door, we build it in-house. Nothing is off-the-shelf if it doesn't serve your specific needs.
- Site Management: We visit sites daily to ensure the execution matches the vision. If a technical challenge arises, we solve it on the spot rather than leaving it for later.
Why We Work This Way
After years in the corporate world, we realised that what people really crave is a home that feels like an exhale. We focus on functional storage—like floor-to-ceiling units that vanish into the wall—and creating nooks that invite you to slow down. Whether it's a rustic living room or a modern kitchen, our goal is to build a foundation for your life, not just a backdrop for photos.
By the Riverside
I’m Swati, the person behind By The Riverside. After years in corporate tech, I stepped into this world to create spaces that don’t shout, but whisper—the kind of homes where you can finally exhale. I work slow and steady, just like my yoga practice, ensuring every detail feels grounded and true to your unique story.
