About Celebrating Indian Heritage: Traditional Arts

I believe that traditional art is best learned by feeling the texture of the materials. Whether we are applying 24K gold foil in a Tanjore piece or placing mirrors in a Lippan panel, I guide you through the intricate relief work step-by-step. My goal is for you to walk away not just with a completed project, but with a deep understanding of the craftsmanship behind these beautiful cultural styles.

At my academy, we treat art as a journey rather than a simple transaction. Traditional Indian art forms like Tanjore and Lippan require patience and specific preparation, which is why I keep my batches small and my instruction hands-on.

What We Create Together

  • Tanjore Painting: We dive deep into the 'muck work' relief stage, learning how to layer the substrate before applying the gold foil and semi-precious stones. This is a meditative, slow-paced process that rewards precision.
  • Lippan Art: We focus on the Kutch tradition of using clay and mirrors. You will learn to prepare the board, mold the clay into intricate patterns, and place mirrors to catch the light, creating a tactile masterpiece for your home.
  • Folk Arts (Warli & Madhubani): These classes are about understanding the storytelling aspect of the art. I walk you through the distinct geometric lines of Warli and the vibrant, symbolic motifs of Madhubani.

Where You Can Learn

Whether you are joining me at my studios in Prabhadevi, Powai, or Thane, or attending via my structured online sessions, you receive the same level of personal attention. For my online students, I ensure the experience is seamless by sending out curated kits containing all the necessary materials, from gold foil to specific molding pastes, so you are ready to start the moment you join the call.

My students often tell me that the most rewarding part is the process—the quiet focus required to apply gold leaf or to shape a clay figure. If you are looking to disconnect from your daily routine and reconnect with your creativity, I would love to guide you through these rich, cultural art forms.
