Family Storytelling Workshops for Conscious Parenting
Learn how to turn stories into a bridge for connection. We show you the art of storytelling to spark imagination and navigate daily parenting challenges with warmth.
Every workshop begins with you. I always start by understanding what parents hope to achieve, whether it is making stories more interactive or choosing age-appropriate tales. This ensures our time together is focused on your specific goals for connecting with your child.
To become a great storyteller, it helps to understand the science behind it. In this part of the workshop, I explain the power of stories to integrate a child's brain, build vocabulary, and foster emotional connection. This knowledge forms the foundation for effective storytelling.
I break down the essential elements of a good story: plot, conflict, theme, and resolution. In this session, I am teaching parents how to dissect and build a narrative, ensuring the stories they tell are engaging and always end in a comforting place for young children.
Here is where theory comes to life. This video shows an outdoor family storytelling session where I use a jellyfish puppet and interactive songs to get everyone involved. You can see how simple props and expressive narration capture a child's full attention and create a magical experience.
Our community events, like this Children's Day celebration, are a wonderful example of storytelling on a larger scale. With the help of fellow storytellers, we use large props and music to engage a big group of families, showing how stories can build a strong sense of community.
About Family Storytelling Workshops
We do not just teach you how to tell a story. We break down the neuroscience behind why stories integrate the left and right brain, helping your child process emotions better. Whether it is bedtime battles or picky eating, we use narrative structure to turn those friction points into moments of calm and connection.
Why Storytelling Matters in Parenting
Storytelling is more than entertainment. It is a fundamental tool for emotional regulation and brain development. In our workshops, we explore how narrative structures, including plot, conflict, and resolution, can mirror your child's own daily challenges. By framing a bedtime routine or a new healthy food habit within a story, you create a safe space for your child to understand expectations without feeling pressured.
What to Expect in Our Sessions
Each session at our Jayanagar Montessori space is hands-on. You will learn:
- Voice Modulation & Rhythm: How to use your voice and pacing to keep your child engaged.
- Prop Integration: Using simple items like puppets or household objects to make stories pop.
- Narrative Building: How to structure a story so it always leads to a comforting resolution.
Whether you join our structured parent-only workshops or our outdoor family storytelling events, the goal is simple. We want to remove the hierarchy of teacher and student. We sit in circles, share experiences, and learn together. If you have been struggling with a specific behavioral hurdle, bring it to the session. We often workshop these scenarios live, using storytelling as a gentle, non-directive way to guide your child. It is messy, it is real, and it is built on connection.
