Behind the Art: My Process and Studio
Ever wondered how we turn your wedding varmala or baby's firsts into a lasting memory? Come see the messy, honest, and beautiful reality of our studio work.
Let me spill some secrets of resin art. The quality of the materials, the patience to layer perfectly, and using the right techniques are all key to creating a piece that shines. Good art takes time, love, and premium materials.
Want to preserve your flowers? Here are some important tips! Always air-dry them upside down, and never put them in the fridge or a plastic bag. The entire process takes a minimum of 20 days, but it's worth it.
Sometimes, things go wrong. This piece was shattered by unexpected rain, and it was heartbreaking. But I believe in being honest about the struggles. It's a reminder that every piece is made with care, and even when there are setbacks, I am committed to my craft and my clients.
A tour of where it all began: my first studio in Nagarbhavi. Meet my amazing team, Rashmi and Reshma, who help me manage the chaos during deadlines!
A tour of my new studio! After 5 years and over 2000 orders, I'm so happy to have this beautiful new space to create in. Thank you for all your support!
The struggle is real! I'm always checking for tiny flies or dust particles after pouring the top coat, because even one small imperfection can ruin hours of work.
Manifesting this for all of us! You build a new home, and you come to me to fill it with beautiful, handmade art that tells your story.
About this collection
Before you send your flowers, here is the most important rule: never refrigerate them and avoid sealing them in plastic. Moisture is the enemy of resin. I need your flowers air-dried in a ventilated space, and the entire process takes at least 20 days. It is not magic, it is chemistry, but I promise the result is worth the wait.
When you walk into my studios in Nagarbhavi or Kammanahalli, you will not find a pristine, silent showroom. You will find resin pours, messy hands, and usually, me, Rashmi, and Reshma troubleshooting a project.
My journey started in 2019 while balancing a full-time IT job. Over 2,000 orders later, the core process remains the same: it is 10 percent glamour and 90 percent patience.
The Reality of Resin Art
We handle your most sensitive items—wedding varmalas, umbilical cords, and cherished baby items. This means we cannot rush.
- The Drying Phase: If your flowers are not bone-dry, they will rot inside the resin. I always guide clients on how to air-dry them properly.
- The Pour: We use high-grade, crystal-clear resin, but even a single fly or speck of dust can ruin a layer. We inspect every pour meticulously.
- The Fix: Sometimes things go wrong. If a piece bends or a mold breaks, we do not hide it. We fix it, re-pour, and make sure it is perfect.
We are here to be honest about what is possible. If you have a crazy idea, bring it to us. Whether it is a 25-year-old wedding card or a specific crochet item, we love a challenge. Just know that when you order from Flicker Colors, you are getting a piece of my team's hard work, not a mass-produced item. We treat your memories like our own.
Flicker Colors
I am Simran, the face behind Flicker Colors. By day I am juggling IT meetings, but by night, I am in the studio with Rashmi and Reshma, pouring resin and fixing what breaks. We keep it real here, which means we will always tell you what is possible, what takes time, and why your memory deserves the care we put into every layer.
