About Functional Art: Clocks & Platters
Here is the reality of resin: the final finish depends entirely on the flowers you send. Please air-dry your blooms for 3 to 4 days before shipping, as damp petals will lose their color in the casting. Also, remember that a proper, high-gloss cure takes at least 20 days to ensure the piece lasts a lifetime, so please plan your order accordingly.
When you live with your memories, they stay fresh. That is why I love creating functional art. Whether it is a 12-inch resin wall clock or an engagement platter, these pieces are designed to be part of your daily home life rather than just gathering dust on a shelf.
Why functional art works
I have seen too many wedding memories packed into boxes. By turning your varmala petals into a clock or a ring platter, you keep those emotions front and center. I use high-density MDF and high-gloss epoxy resin for the bases. For the clocks, I pair the resin with a silent-sweep quartz mechanism so you get the aesthetics without the ticking noise. If you choose a frame, I often use solid Sagwan teak wood, which gives the piece a rustic, durable weight that complements the modern resin pour.
The creative process
Every piece is hand-poured in my Bangalore studios in Nagarbhavi or Kammanahalli. I work with you on the details: custom pigment backgrounds like ocean blue or pearl white, gold acrylic markers for the clock numbers, and gold vinyl for the calligraphy. If you have a specific vision, like using elements from the groom's attire or matching your wedding theme, just let me know. I have even repaired broken clocks, turning the cracks into part of the story.
Care and longevity
Resin is durable but needs respect. Keep your clocks and platters away from direct, harsh sunlight to prevent yellowing over time. Clean them with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubs on the glossy surface. These pieces are intended for indoor decor, and if you treat them right, they will keep your special day visible in your home for years to come.
