About Behind the Scenes: The Art of Preservation

Many people see a video of resin being poured and think it is a quick job, but the real work happens in the silent weeks before that. Your flowers spend 15 to 20 days in airtight silica beds to lose their moisture without losing their colour—a slow, patient process that simply cannot be rushed if you want the piece to stay beautiful for years.

The journey of your keepsake starts long before the resin is poured. When I receive your varmalas, kaleeras, or baby mementos, the first step is a meticulous cleanup. Each petal is individually inspected and placed into silica sand, layer by layer. This is the hidden phase that demands patience; if I rush this, the flowers will rot or lose their vibrancy inside the resin.

Once the flowers are perfectly dehydrated, the casting begins. I use specialized deep-cast, UV-resistant resin, which is a different beast than standard craft resin. I don't just dump it in; I work in thin, careful layers to suspend your items so they don't sink or clump.

After the pour, there is the curing time, followed by hours of sanding and buffing until the block has that glass-like clarity you see in my gallery. I do not take shortcuts because I know these are not just decorative pieces. Whether it is a custom nameplate for a newlywed home in Janakpuri or a memorial frame, you are trusting me with your history. That is why I do not just 'make' the art—I preserve the emotion, one careful layer at a time.
