One-of-a-Kind Keepsake Preservation
If it is special to you, it is worth keeping forever. From traditional Nepali varmalas and family heirlooms to handmade crochet and cake toppers, I love the challenge of turning your unique, non-traditional items into lasting resin art.
This was a truly special project. A client brought me a handmade Nepali varmala, a family heirloom passed down through generations. I was honored to preserve this one-of-a-kind tradition in resin, ensuring her precious memory would never fade.
Preserving a traditional Nepali varmala for a client was such an exciting project. It's a beautiful symbol of a Nepali-Marwadi love story.
This is the first time I've ever preserved crochet in resin! The piece captures the intricate, handwoven threads in crystal-clear resin, blending tradition with modern art.
Yes, it's cake fondant! I successfully preserved these beautiful, edible decorations in resin. This was a new concept for me, and I'm in love with the sweet result.
I received something very unique to preserve: cake fondant! I was so excited to work with these beautiful, edible miniatures and will be sharing the process.
A client brought me these beautiful flowers she received as a blessing during a pilgrimage. I created a custom mold to preserve them exactly as they were, turning her spiritual memory into lasting art.
Preserving blessed flowers from Vrindavan. These two small plaques eternalize the blessings and memories from a sacred place.
About this collection
If you have a unique or fragile item like fondant, crochet, or an antique heirloom, the most important step is reaching out before you ship it. These materials often behave differently in resin compared to standard flowers. DM me a photo of your item so we can discuss the best preservation technique to keep it safe and looking perfect.
I started Flicker Colors because I believe every memory deserves a physical form, even the ones that do not fit into a standard mold. While most artists stick to roses and jasmines, I find myself drawn to the stories behind the objects.
My studio in Bangalore has become a place for creative experimentation. I have worked on everything from preserving blessed pilgrimage flowers from Vrindavan and reconstructed sunflowers with broken petals to encapsulating heavy, traditional Nepali varmalas and delicate crochet work that holds generational value.
How I Handle Unique Projects
- Assessment: Every non-floral project begins with a conversation. I need to understand the material's structural integrity, moisture content, and reaction to high-gloss UV resin.
- Custom Molds: For items that do not fit standard frames, I create custom molds. This ensures the final piece is not just a block of resin, but a display that respects the object's shape and meaning.
- Preparation: Unlike standard flower drying, unique items require specific cleaning, sealing, or dehydration processes to prevent clouding or bubbles.
Whether you are looking to preserve watch components, childhood toys, or a specific piece of decor from a ceremony, my goal is to protect your 'apna' (yours) moments. If you have an idea that seems a bit crazy or different, bring it to me. I love a good challenge and would rather spend the extra time finding a way to make it work than say it cannot be done.
Flicker Colors
I am Simran. By day I am balancing meetings and deadlines in IT, but my heart is here in the studio at Flicker Colors. I live for the projects where people ask, 'Can you even preserve this?' because that is when I get to do my best work.
