About The Grove Residence, Bangalore: Restrained & Soulful Spaces
The key to The Grove Residence lies in its intentional restraint. We chose a palette of moody browns, deep blacks, and soft neutrals to create a sense of calm, ensuring that every piece of art or furniture serves a purpose. Rather than layering decor, we focused on custom fabrication, such as the sphere-legged desk in the study, to anchor the room with a unique, sculptural identity.
Our Approach to Soulful Interiors
This project was built on the philosophy that a home should not just be visually appealing but emotionally resonant. In The Grove Residence, we moved away from the common practice of filling spaces with generic decor. Instead, we treated every corner as a gallery for collected art and custom-built elements that hold significance for the residents.
Materiality and Light
The interior relies heavily on the interplay of texture and shadow. We used:
- Monochromatic Textures: By layering different materials—smoked veneers, stone, and brass—within the same color family, we added depth without needing bright, distracting colors.
- Sculptural Elements: The staircase, crafted from black metal and glass, acts as a functional sculpture, while the study’s custom shelving uses transparent acrylic supports to make stone objects appear as if they are floating.
- Intentional Lighting: We replaced standard fixtures with industrial glass orbs and cone-shaped pendant lights, ensuring that the light casts dynamic shadows that change the mood of the room throughout the day.

For those seeking a departure from standard interior trends, this project illustrates the impact of 'Modern Organic' design. It proves that a home can be high-end and luxurious while maintaining a warm, lived-in feel.
