About The Atelier: Creative Arts & Hands-on Crafts
During our weekend sessions, we focus on the process of creation rather than the final result. Whether it is clay modeling or painting, the goal is for your child to experiment with materials, test different textures, and build confidence through their own design choices. We often involve parents in these projects, as we believe learning becomes more meaningful when shared as a family.
At the Atelier, we view art as a primary tool for developing critical thinking. Children engage with diverse mediums like air-dry clay, acrylic paints, and printmaking, but these are just the starting point. We guide them to observe textures, experiment with color, and learn unconventional techniques that encourage them to look at everyday objects with a designer's eye.
The space is designed to remove the pressure of perfection. If a clay model wobbles or a painting takes an unexpected turn, that is considered part of the learning journey. We encourage this mindset because we believe resilience and problem-solving skills are just as important as the artistic result.
For our parent-child collaborative sessions, we shift the focus to shared discovery. Whether you are working on a collaborative canvas or block building, the activity is structured to foster communication and teamwork. You might find yourself learning a technique right alongside your child, which we find is the most effective way to model the curiosity we hope to nurture in them.
Ekya Nava
We started Ekya Nava because the traditional way of schooling just did not fit the world our kids are walking into. Our Atelier is a place where we prioritize messy, hands-on experimentation over simply following a textbook. We believe families grow together, so we invite you to step away from screens and create something tangible with us.
