Grappling & BJJ Basics for Kids
Grappling isn't just about wrestling on the floor. It's about learning control, leverage, and staying calm under pressure. Here, kids build real-world strength by mastering the fundamentals of ground control in a safe, disciplined environment.
Learning the art of grappling. This session shows a mix of BJJ drills, from partner exercises on the floor to strength conditioning that helps with ground control.
Partner drills are essential for learning grappling. These kids are practicing basic BJJ movements and positions, learning how to use leverage and technique to control an opponent.
About Ground Control: Grappling & BJJ Basics
We conduct all grappling drills on 1-inch thick EVA puzzle mats to keep training safe while kids learn to control their body weight. It is not about brute strength here. We teach kids how to stay composed even when they are pinned down, proving that technique always wins over ego.
Why BJJ Basics for Kids?
Grappling is the great equalizer. It doesn't matter if your child is the tallest or the strongest in the class; in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), technique is the real weapon. We strip away the complexity and focus on what actually works: hip escapes, guard positions, and how to use leverage to neutralize an opponent. This builds more than muscle—it builds a sharp, analytical mind.
Safe Training, Real Effort
Parents often worry about injuries when they hear about wrestling or fighting. At Delhi Combat, we prioritize safety above everything. Our training area is fully matted, and we enforce strict supervision during all partner drills. Kids learn to move with each other, not against each other, fostering respect and discipline alongside their physical growth.
The Yoddha Mindset
This is not a passive activity. Whether it's practicing ground transitions or learning escape drills, your kid is going to sweat. They will get tired. But they will also learn that the ground is just another place to solve problems. We push them to stay consistent—teen din ki chutti (three days off) and you lose the muscle memory. Regular practice is the only way to build that warrior spirit. Bring them in, let them test their limits, and watch how quickly they gain confidence both inside and outside the gym.
Delhi Combat
At Delhi Combat, I don't treat training like a daycare hobby. We build Yoddhas. My squad focuses on real technique that works, whether you're a kid just starting out or an athlete training for a match.
