About Estate-Sourced Oils & Honey
If you have ever tasted our Kerala Pork Ularthiyathu and wondered about the deep aroma, it starts right here. We cold-press this coconut oil from coconuts grown by the Kaveri river on our own estate. It is completely unrefined and chemical-free, retaining the rich, heavy scent of real coconut that commercial processing simply strips away. It is not just an oil, but the essential base for much of our Kodava cooking.
We run our pantry line on a simple philosophy: if it is not from our land or made with the same care as our family meals, we do not stock it.
The Estate Process
Everything starts at our Uttam Sagar and Karthakaad estates. We avoid the shortcuts of industrial farming. Our coconut oil is cold-pressed in small batches, ensuring the smoke point and flavor profile remain intact for high-heat cooking like pork fries or vegetable stir-fries.
Raw, Seasonal Honey
Our bees forage on coffee blossoms and wild flowers across the estate. Because we do not heat-treat or filter out the pollen, the honey changes slightly in texture and color depending on the season. You might find it crystalizes in cooler weather, which is actually a sign of its purity, not a defect. Just place the jar in a bowl of warm water to return it to a liquid state.
Why Kodava Kitchens Rely on These
Traditional Kodava cuisine relies on specific fats and acids. Our pantry range includes the essentials to get those flavors right at home. From the pungent, wild-grown Birdseye chillies (Parangi-molu) for your curries to our artisanal pickles, we provide the raw materials that allow you to replicate our slow-cooking style in your own kitchen. Whether you are stocking up for a traditional meal or just want an honest alternative to supermarket staples, these ingredients bring the monsoon soul of Coorg to your table.
