A Day in the Life: Our Forever Ghar
Step into our sanctuary, where over 120 rescued large animals have left their days of labor behind to live as a family.
There is never a dull moment here. Our rescues have formed their own families and friendships, and they spend their days goofing around and keeping each other entertained.
This is how our cows show affection. After years of isolation or abuse, allowing them to form natural social bonds and express themselves freely is a key part of their healing.
This is what "no more labour days" looks like. Just a peaceful afternoon, relaxing in the sun, without a single worry in the world.
A buffalo enjoying a cool dip in the pool. We provide these simple joys for our residents, allowing them to live a life of comfort and dignity.
A curious cow comes up to the fence to say hello. Our residents are individuals with unique personalities, and we love getting to know each one.
This donkey's gentle expression says it all. Here, they are treated with kindness and respect, and they have learned to trust humans again.
Summer days at the sanctuary are all about staying cool. Whether it's a bath, a dip in a water tub, or just rolling in the grass, our animals know how to enjoy themselves.
About this collection
We aren't just a shelter, but a true retirement home where over 120 rescued cows, horses, and donkeys live as family. If you want to see what humane treatment looks like, you can join us for a half-day volunteering experience where you help with grooming and meal prep, or simply choose to sponsor a resident’s monthly care, knowing exactly where your contribution goes.
Life at Our Forever Ghar
Most of our residents at the CUPA Large Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (LARRC) arrived here with histories of exploitation. Whether they were horses from wedding gigs suffering from spiked bits or cows abandoned after they stopped producing milk, they spent years carrying heavy loads. Here, we offer them something simple: a second chance. We call it our forever ghar (home), and it is where they trade chains for grazing and fear for comfort.
What We Do Daily
Life at the sanctuary is built around emotional and physical healing. We don't believe in just sheltering; we believe in rehabilitating.
- Natural Socializing: We allow animals to form their own herds. Watching them bond is the best proof that they are healing.
- Medical Care: Beyond basic fodder, our geriatric care includes joint supplements and pain management for our arthritic seniors.
- Individual Attention: Each animal has a personality. From donkeys who love a scratch behind the ears to cows who will greet you at the gate, we make sure every resident gets personal time.
How You Can Help
Whether you have an hour or a full day, there is a place for you here.
- Passive Adoption: You can sponsor an animal's food and medical bills for a fixed monthly cost. You’ll receive updates on their health and can even visit them.
- Herd Feasts: Sponsor a day of special treats—think seasonal fruits and watermelons for the herd.
- Volunteering: Our half-day sessions involve the real work of sanctuary life: chopping fodder, grooming, and facility maintenance. It is heavy work, but spending time with these animals puts everything into perspective.
We don't do this for profit; we do this because freedom is the birthright of every animal. Come visit us in Bangalore to see our work in action.
