Kung Fu Philosophy and Martial Arts Training
I teach that martial arts is not just about fighting. It is the discipline of breathing and a journey to build courage, focus, and character for everyone.
This expresses my core philosophy in Tamil. It says that martial arts is not just about learning to fight, but a journey that builds courage to face the future and walk a righteous path.
The facial expression here shows the intense focus required in martial arts. Even I was shocked to see it. It is the look of total concentration.
A portrait capturing the focus and readiness of a martial artist. The hand is ready to block or strike, and the eyes are watchful.
A simple message: focus your target and gain the success. This principle applies not just in martial arts, but in all aspects of life.
About The Heart of Our Art
I teach that self-defense is about the discipline of breathing. When you step into my class, expect to work on your stances, control your breath, and clear your mind. It is not about being a fighter, it is about having the courage to face your day with total focus.
For me, 'Tharkappukkalai enbathu suvasathin ozhukkam' (Self-defense is the discipline of breathing). This isn't a motto I put on a wall; it is what happens in every session. Whether you are at our Mylapore branch or training on the sand at Neelankarai, the work is the same. We start with basics. You will hold your Horse stance, your Cat stance, and you will learn to push through the burn.
This training is about character. I have seen children grow from shy kids into confident individuals, and adults find a new rhythm in their busy lives. We are a family, not just a school. We host community meals, we plant trees, and we support each other when things get tough.
As you advance, we move into more complex work like Praying Mantis techniques—known for its precise grabs and strikes—and weapons training like the Bo Staff. If you are here for fitness, you will get the 'Warrior Workout,' which mixes high-repetition calisthenics with combat movements. If you are here for self-defense, we teach you to be aware, to block, and to stay calm.
I have been doing this for over 20 years. I have watched students win state tournaments and I have watched them fail and get back up. My goal is simple: I want you to walk straight, face your fears, and carry the confidence of a martial artist into every part of your life. Come prepared to work, to listen, and to sweat.
