About Advanced Skills: Weapons & Praying Mantis Kung Fu
We do not just show you how to swing a weapon. The Bo Staff and sword work you see here starts with foundational grip and stance training. You have to master your balance and breath control before you can execute these complex forms with speed and intent.
Precision in Motion
When you move from basic Kung Fu to our advanced levels, the training shifts. It is no longer about hitting a target; it is about extending your energy. In our Bo Staff sessions, we focus on reach and rotation. You start with simple strikes and blocks, but quickly move to flowing, continuous movements that require total body coordination.
The Praying Mantis Advantage
Praying Mantis is a distinct style within our academy. It is famous for its rapid, intricate hand movements and unique grasping techniques. If you are joining these sessions, expect to work on your wrist flexibility and reaction speed. It is a close-range style, so we spend a lot of time on partner drills, learning how to trap an opponent's arms and strike simultaneously. It is challenging, but this is where the theory of 'self-defense is the discipline of breathing' truly clicks.
Your Path to Mastery
We structure these sessions for those who are serious about their progress.
- Conditioning: High-intensity calisthenics are integrated into every class to build the necessary stamina.
- Weaponry: We cover Bo Staff (Silambam) and Butterfly Swords. We prioritize safety and traditional technique over flashy displays.
- Sparring: For advanced students, we introduce controlled contact drills using focus mitts and shields to test your application in real-time.
Whether you are training at our HBR Layout location in Bengaluru or our beach-side spots in Chennai, the standard of training remains strict. This is not a hobbyist class. We push you to find your focus, face your fears, and walk straight.
