Kung Fu and Self-Defense Training Sessions
A look at our daily training—from foundational Kung Fu stances to partner drills that build real-world strength and confidence.
A large outdoor training session in Bangalore. You can see the focus and synchronization as students move through their forms together, a core part of our group classes.
One-on-one partner drills are essential for learning practical self-defense. Here, I am demonstrating a blocking and counter-attack sequence with a student.
A young student practices his roundhouse kick on a strike shield. This type of pad work is crucial for developing power, accuracy, and proper kicking technique.
Core strength and conditioning are the foundation of all martial arts. Our students work on push-ups and other fitness drills to build the physical endurance needed for training.
Students practice a fundamental blocking and striking sequence in a line drill. This repetition builds muscle memory and ensures that movements become second nature.
Students bow in respect before beginning their Brown and Black Belt test. This gesture is a fundamental part of martial arts, signifying humility and respect for the art and each other.
A circle of senior students practicing stances. This formation allows for close observation and correction, ensuring everyone maintains the correct posture and alignment.
A student practices powerful strikes on a punching bag in our training hall. The walls are covered with inspirational quotes from martial arts legends to motivate our students.
This video shows a mix of training elements, from punching bag work to a glimpse of my own intense focus during a session. It captures the sweat and dedication involved.
Two students practice synchronized kicking drills and pad work. Training with a partner builds timing, coordination, and a sense of teamwork.
About A Glimpse into Our Training
When you join our sessions, you aren't just learning moves. You are participating in a strict, rhythmic process. We start with essential conditioning—push-ups, stretching, and stance work—before moving to partner drills where we emphasize proper breathing. Whether it's our open-air sessions or our indoor halls in Bengaluru and Chennai, the focus remains the same: repetition until the movement becomes muscle memory.
Martial arts training at our academy is designed to be more than just a workout. We follow a structured progression that builds character alongside physical capability.
What to Expect in Our Classes We believe in the fundamentals. Every session, whether for kids or adults, begins with rigorous body conditioning. You will hold horse and cat stances until your legs are steady. We don't rush the process because building a strong foundation is the only way to ensure your techniques—strikes, blocks, or grabs—are effective in real-world scenarios.
Styles and Techniques As you advance, we introduce traditional Shaolin fundamentals and the Praying Mantis style, which is famous for its distinct, rapid-fire strikes and practical grappling. We also incorporate weapons training with the Bo Staff and swords for those ready to deepen their coordination.
Why We Focus on 'Family' Our locations, from the HBR Layout in Bengaluru to our Mylapore and Neelankarai branches in Chennai, are built on the 'Kootaanchoru' (community meal) culture. We train as a family. When you are in a line drill, your partner is pushing you to be better, and our senior students are often there to correct your form.
Progression We track your journey through our belt grading system. It is a moment of pride, but the belt is just a marker of your commitment. If you are joining us for fitness, self-defense for women, or specialized kids' training, know that the path is consistent: discipline, breath control, and consistent effort.
