The Master's Corner: My Journey in Kung Fu
I have been training and teaching for 20 years. Martial arts is not about fighting, it is about breathing and finding the courage to face life straight.
A photo of me from 2007. My journey in martial arts has been a long one, and this image reminds me of the continuous path of learning and teaching I have been on for decades.
This photo was taken 20 years ago, showing me conducting a class on the beach. My passion for teaching has remained unchanged, whether on sand or in a dojo.
In Tamil, this text explains that self-defense is not about fighting, but a practice that gives you the courage to face life's challenges. This is the journey I guide my students on.
The intensity you see in my face here is the same focus I teach. Every movement in Kung Fu has a purpose, and your expression should reflect that intent.
A portrait of me in my teaching uniform. The patch on my chest is our academy's symbol, a mark of the discipline and power we cultivate.
Demonstrating a hand position. Every detail, down to the placement of your fingers, is important in Kung Fu. This is the level of precision we strive for.
This is an official poster for the academy, noting our ISO 9001:2015 certification. I am not just a coach, but the head of an institution committed to quality and excellence.
A simple message: focus your target and gain the success. This is my advice for martial arts and for life. Your mind is your most powerful weapon.

About The Master's Corner
People often ask if I teach fighting. I teach breathing and focus. Whether we are on the sand at Blue Lagoon Beach or inside our Mylapore dojo, the rule is the same: posture creates courage. If you cannot control your breath, you cannot control your power. This is the foundation of every drill we perform.
I started this journey 20 years ago on the sands of Mamallapuram. Back then, it was just me and the discipline of the waves. Today, Core Power Kung Fu Academy is an ISO 9001:2015 certified institution, but the soul of our training remains the same. We do not use machines. We use our bodies.
Why the training feels different
My classes are strict. You will hear me shouting commands like 'Ready, go!' or 'One, two, come on!' because that intensity is what builds mental endurance. We practice 'nenjsam nimitrum payirichi', a practice that gives courage. You are not here to count reps. You are here to learn how to stand up when life gets difficult.
Where we train
We move. You might find us in an indoor dojo, a school courtyard, or on the beach. Training on uneven ground like sand forces you to stabilize your body and strengthens your ankles in ways a treadmill never will. It keeps the training real.
Is this for you?
I train kids, adults, and professionals. You do not need to be fit to start. You just need the intent to focus your target and gain success. We are not a gym. We are a family. We hold community meals, plant trees, and support each other. If you want to learn Kung Fu, self-defense, or simply find a way to handle your stress, you are welcome here.
