Creative and Group Therapy Sessions for Children
Sometimes, talking in a clinical room feels heavy. That is why we use art, craft, and group play. Here, children express themselves in a safe, sensory-friendly environment while building confidence alongside their peers.
Announcing "The Art Circle," a therapeutic group for 8-11 year olds. Through art and craft, we help children develop confidence, self-expression, creativity, and social skills in a fun, supportive environment.
This video offers a glimpse into our second Art Circle. You can see the passion, play, and sense of belonging as children engage in creative activities, building skills and forming connections in a therapeutic group setting.
About Creative & Group Therapy Sessions
In our Art Circle, we move beyond standard talk therapy. By pairing children in small, facilitated groups of 5 to 8, we turn creative tasks, like painting or collaborative crafts, into low-pressure social interactions. This helps them navigate turn-taking and emotional expression without the direct, sometimes intimidating, gaze of a one-on-one session.
Why Art and Play
Many children find words hard to come by when they are stressed or anxious. Our expressive arts practitioners use clay, paint, and sensory materials to bridge that gap. When a child works on a group project, they are practicing collaboration, regulation, and empathy in real-time. It is less about creating a perfect piece of art and more about the connection formed during the process.
The Art Circle Structure
This is a structured, 8-week module designed for children aged 8 to 11. Led by a dual-therapist model, including a lead psychologist and a co-facilitator, we keep cohorts small to ensure every child gets the attention they need. Each 90-minute session balances structured activity with free-flowing creative time, allowing kids to engage at their own pace.
A Neurodiversity-Affirming Space
We do not view social struggles as a problem to fix. Instead, we provide the tools for your child to find their own rhythm. Whether it is managing group dynamics or learning to share space, the environment at our Safdarjung Enclave and Gurugram centers is designed to be sensory-friendly, safe, and entirely free of judgment. We track progress through pre-screening and a final summary report, but the true measure of success is often seeing a child who was previously hesitant or withdrawn begin to initiate play or share ideas with their peers by the end of the 8-week cycle.
Children First
We are the team at Children First, and we truly believe that therapy should be as joyful as it is healing. We have spent over 15 years creating spaces where kids do not have to fit into a mold to be understood. We simply hold the space for them to be themselves.
