About A Tribute to Appu: Portraits of Puneeth Rajkumar
I don't just sketch faces; I try to capture the specific vibe of the reference photo, like the warmth in his Paramathma smile or the innocence from Bettada Hoovu. Whether it is a realistic graphite piece or a high-energy scribble artwork, my focus is always on nailing the expression that makes us all love him. If you want a tribute piece of Appu for your home, share your preferred photo and I will make sure the details are perfect.
For these portraits, I use a few different techniques depending on the look you want. My realistic graphite portraits are built on a strict grid method, ensuring the facial structure and the 'Appu smile' remain true to life. I use a mix of pencils from HB to 8B to get those deep shadows, especially for the black and white tributes.
If you prefer something more modern, my scribble art is a favorite. I use chaotic, continuous ink lines to create a portrait that looks different from a distance than it does up close. It is wild, energetic, and fits the 'Powerstar' vibe perfectly. I usually work on 160-250 GSM paper to ensure the artwork lasts for years, and I always finish my pencil sketches with a fixative spray to keep them from smudging or yellowing.
Every piece is hand-drawn from scratch in my studio. Since these are custom orders, I send you a mid-process update so we can make sure the likeness is 100% correct before I finalize the shading. Once it is ready, I roll it safely in a hard pipe so it reaches you without a single crease. Whether it is a gift for a die-hard fan or a tribute for your own collection, I put my heart into every stroke.
