About Portraits of International Stars
Getting the likeness right is everything. I use the grid method to ensure that the nose, eyes, and jawline are as close to reality as possible before I start shading. This way, the drawing looks exactly like the person in your reference photo.
When I sit down to draw, my goal is to capture the expression, not just the outline.
My Process
I work with graphite pencils ranging from HB to 8B, and I use charcoal powder to get those deep, rich blacks. All my portraits are created on 180 to 200 GSM acid-free cartridge paper. This ensures the drawing lasts for years without yellowing.
Technical Care
Once a sketch is finished, I coat the artwork with a matte fixative spray so the graphite does not smudge. I am very careful about shipping. I send all pieces in a hard PVC pipe or reinforced cardboard tube to make sure they reach you without a single crease.
