About this collection
Recovery is rarely a straight line. For many of our rescued animals, the real work starts after the surgery, involving daily manual bladder expression, laser nerve therapy, and hydrotherapy sessions in our on-site tank. We don't just treat the wound; we manage the daily physical therapy required to give paralyzed or injured animals the best shot at independence.
Beyond the Initial Rescue
Most calls we receive involve severe trauma—spinal injuries, maggot-infested wounds, or road accident fractures. While immediate veterinary intervention is crucial, the 'Journey of Recovery' is the long, quiet process that follows.
Our Rehabilitation Approach
We believe in doing whatever it takes to help an animal regain its quality of life. Our facility at Yelahanka is equipped for more than just basic shelter. We focus on:
- Mobility Support: For spinal trauma cases, we use assisted walking support and custom wheelchairs to ensure they aren't confined to a crate.
- Advanced Healing: We utilize veterinary laser devices for nerve regeneration and deep wound healing, which is essential for animals that come to us with neglected, chronic infections.
- Hydrotherapy: Our water tank sessions help animals rebuild muscle mass and coordination without putting stress on recovering bones or joints.
- Hygiene Management: Paralyzed animals require constant care, including manual bladder and bowel expression multiple times a day to prevent sepsis and secondary complications.
The Reality of Our Work
We are often over capacity, housing over 175 animals when our space is built for 160. Every animal here—whether it's a kitten rescued from a metro pillar or a dog recovering from a spinal injury—requires individual attention. This isn't just medical care; it is a commitment to seeing them through to the other side. If you have found an animal that needs long-term rehabilitation or intensive care, we are here to walk that path with you.
Charlie's Animal Rescue Centre
At CARE, our days start with a phone call and a plea for help. We are a team of vets, volunteers, and rescuers who refuse to look away when a dog or cat on the streets of Bangalore is in pain, turning trauma into a path toward recovery.
